This is a main title design, concept, and animation that I created for the movie Valkyrie with Tom Cruise. It can be seen at the open of the movie. The challenge was to transition from the German spelling 'Walkure', and my concept was based on the idea that a letter V and its shadow combined make a W. My goal was to keep it as clean and simple as possible, while still drawing the emotions of Nazi Germany at the time. I pushed for making the type as big as could fit on screen, but had to pull it back just a little for legal reasons of it being proportionate to Tom Cruise's name. The typography for VALKYRIE was hand-drawn by Sean Vaan-Praag, then I made a couple of extra letters based on what he had made.
